Home Design and Drafting Process
Our Design Process
Initial Design Consultation
Bring in all the inspiration you’ve gathered over months – pictures, magazine articles, and ideas. In this collaborative session, we establish your home design criteria. We delve into details like layout, square footage, style, and finish materials. Additionally, we consider site conditions and your lifestyle to shape the foundation of your project.
Preliminary Design Presentation
Approximately two weeks after the initial meeting, we present the preliminary design. This meeting unveils the home’s layout through 3D views for clarity, scale drawings of each floor, front elevation, and room dimensions. We review and prioritize design criteria to ensure alignment with your vision.
Drafting and Preliminary Design Review
Following the preliminary design meeting, we enter the drafting phase. We use this time to discuss any changes, revisions, or consequences of modifications to the plan. This pivotal meeting allows you to fine-tune details, incorporating additions such as niches, ceiling details, window specifics, and the placement of special artworks.
Preliminary Design Approval
If everything aligns seamlessly, your initials on the plan signify approval for us to progress to working drawings. In case of any adjustments, we revisit the drafting stage. The ultimate goal is to leave this meeting with an approved design that fulfills your desires, fits the home site, and aligns with your budget. We encourage your builder to review the plans for budget proposals.
Working Drawings Review
A couple of weeks after the preliminary design approval, we convene to review all four elevations and detailed floor plans. This meeting serves to ensure transparency and eliminate surprises, providing additional documentation for your new home
Final Completed Working Drawings
The result of your dedicated efforts and our collaborative work is the unveiling of the final working drawings. These detailed construction plans outline the intricacies of how your home will be constructed. Each page of the plans encompasses vital information, including the involvement of a Structural Engineer for foundation structures with necessary approvals. National Energy Code Calculations and Compliance Forms are also incorporated. This signifies the culmination of the design process.
